iRV 33 Poor radio reception

I have a iRV33 radio in my trailer, and the reception is poor. In town it picks up the stations just fine, however when we are out camping we get poor reception. I tried adjusting the antenna once while we were camping and as soon as I touched it we got good service. Seems to me it's a grounding issue. Just not sure how to solve it. Did some reading and some people say to ground the radio chassis but with no metal being around where the chassis gets installed not 100% sure how to do this. 😕

Just wondering if anyone has some ideas on how to help fix this. Going camping next weekend so I'll be able to test out my fixes.
