iRV 68 Clock Set

Does anyone know how to set the clock on a iRV 68? I've got a 2018 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8329SS and have never figured out how to set the clock. I know I hold the "clock" button in until the hour flashes and I use the dial to adjust the hour. I got that. I can't figure out how to change from hour to minute to change the minutes.

If I recall correctly, you just push the big dial in to switch from hours to minutes.

I gave up setting mine as it drifts about 15 minutes a day and has been replace twice, this on actually drifts less then the 1st 2 but is still a joke

That's funny. I thought it was only mine tthat didn't keep time. I never had mine replaced because I read about all the problems everybody else had with the system working. Mine works good except for the clock so I didn't want to take a chance getting a bad one.

I have a Mr Coffee that drifts about 15 minutes in 6 hours. It's tough to set it at night to auto brew in the morning. You never know when the coffee will be ready.

Thanks for the help. I'll try pushing the dial in tomorrow. Since the clock has never been set I have not paid much attention to how much the time drifts.

That is correct. We have the same thing in our 8311WS. I find that the clocks on these units (both of ours anyway) run fast, and I have to reset them if I want the correct time. You would think in this day and age they could make a clock that keeps the correct time....

They can. The little "button" clocks of 15 years ago do better. The right way to design a digital clock (since I did one back in the 1980s) is to divide the frequency of an oscillator controlled by a 32.768 KHz crystal. It's done all the time.

These crystals are not exotic. In 1000-piece lots they are available for 35 to 40 cents a piece at a 200 ppm (parts per million) specification. A little cheaper if you accept 250 ppm. These will not drift in minutes per day--not even seconds.

I have difficulty imagining a circuit that would drift that much. Maybe if I took a 555 timer and an off-the-shelf capacitor with a rating of +/- 5% I could design a circuit that would perform that badly. (That 5% corresponds 50,000 ppm.) But no one would do that in practice.

My last professional job was taking apart competitive products and analyzing them for patent infringement. I'd love to inspect the internals of one of those iRV 68s, in the same sense that watching a train wreck is irresistable.

And actually, the clock in my 1967 Avanti keeps perfect time. It's not the original, but an aftermarket from the 1970's, but still....

Finally set the minutes on the clock, thanks for the help.

I've never set the clock before because we never had the trailer plugged in very long (a few days camping) so I never saw the need to worry about it. I recently redid all of the electrical in my barn so while I was at it I put in dedicated outlet/breaker for the trailer. Now I have the trailer plugged in all the time so now I thought I might as well set the clock.

On a side note, my satellite company for the house recently dropped the Fox channel from their lineup. I went to watch my teams preseason game and found I couldn't. Went out to the trailer and, despite being in a building with steel walls and roof, I was able to get the channel in clear is day. Then it dawned on me, with permanent power, fridge, microwave, etc, this can be a great man cave for watching the game.
