Jack Digital HDTV Antenna

Has anyone replaced the standard tv antenna with the Jack Digital HDTV Antenna? What were the results? Good, no difference, more channels or not as good? Just got one and debating whether to install it or not.

Where I was at when I changed to the JACK antenna I saw a marked improvement in the signal reception. One thing though the JACK seems to be some what more directional then the Windgard meaning you'll need to be aimed much more exactly at the transmitter tower. I use a program on the net that shows the tower location and compass point from the zip code I'm at to zero in better.

What program is that? I would be interested in using it myself!

Android has one also. It is called TV Antenna Helper. It's free and works good.

TV Antennae Helper is a great app. But, like many apps, it has limitations. Many times, I will pick up channels on my TV that are not listed on the app, and a few times it will show me channels that I can't receive.

Since I have the Wingman which concentrates the UHF channels, but makes them more directional, the app helps me fine tune those channels.

What I use is web site "digitalhdsource.com" then I click on the 1st antenna show, then scroll to the bottom of that antennas page to the map where I type in the zip code where I'm at and get the station listing for that area, their strength, and then click on the station I want and the map show it's location and the compass heading to it from my location.

Installed the new Jack antenna and retracted it to make sure it would go down. Scan for channels with in stowed and it got the same number of channels retracted as the regular antenna when it was up and aimed. Raised the new Jack antenna, scanned for channels and got 17 more than with the old antenna. Very pleased with it.

I've found simular results from my Jack TV upgrade. And I too, found it a bit more directionally touchy so I invested in this:

King Controls SL1000 SureLock Digital TV Signal Meter : Amazon.com : Automotive

This allows you to "peak" the signal as you rotate. Just plug it into any TV outlet so that you can see it from the antenna rotor.
