Jensen multimedia receiver doesn't completely shutoff

Picked up a Forester 3051S last week. The in-dash receiver doesn't appear to completely shut off (red light remains around on/off button) and can be turned on without turning on the key. Seems like if i store this for any period of time i run the risk of killing my battery. Is this the way it is designed? Also, doesn't appear all touch buttons work (for example can't bring up the source selection screen). Also only getting sound through one speaker. Can anyone provide some insight?

Make sure house battery switch is off, and I know on mine I have to hold the button in untill radio turns off.

Shutting off house battery battery worked. I assumed this was running from chassis battery. thanks for the input. No idea why the unit menus and remote still don't work. Would love some input on this wonky unit.

There's 3 small silver buttons over the on and off switch. top one for DVD, middle button for radio all chanells and blue tooth, bottom button for GPS.
