keypad keyless entry problems

i have a 2012 grey wolf 22bh with the key pad keyless entry! it justt stopped working the other day!!!! i checked all the fuses and the breaker and all of them were fine!! what could be the problem? has anyone had this issue b4? does the keypad have a battery itself?

The keypad does have a battery.

It is glued to the side of your RV. If you don't want to rip it off, wait until it is dark and see if you can see the lights behind the buttons. When you type in the code, if you type it in correctly all the lights will immediately go off after you hit the "lock" or "unlock" button. What happens next is the door lock should get actuated. If your keypad has power, and you typed in the code correctly, but your door lock doesn't actuate, you've got a wiring/power problem to the door actuator.

Call the vendor. That's how I found all this out. It looks like you have a Southco EA-R03. Southco - Latches, Hinges, Fasteners, Engineered Access Hardware. Give them a call.

On the other hand, you can rip it off and take it inside to see it. That's what I ended up doing because I wanted to get the problem resolved during the day. It's quite bright in Denver.

I'd suggest going to a retrofit of a KEY LOCK. Doesn't rely on battery power and is unlikely to lock you out.

Our '02 rig has key-operated door and dead-bolt locks. Our car has key-operated entry and ignition locks. We know so many people who have had problems with key-less, electronic gizmos, I think I'd refuse to buy a vehicle that had them, unless the dealer would retrofit key-operated locks.

I don't understand the attraction, except they're probably as lot cheaper to the vehicle manufacturers than key-locks and they're a "modern" electronic gimmick.

The wireless system operates a key lock, so unless you put the key inside, then lock the door with the keypad, then the battery dies, you won't get locked out.

It's incredibly convenient when your kids go in and out and in and out and you like to keep things locked. The key stays outside with mom and dad, who might be seated at another campsite and don't want to walk back and forth.

If/when I sell my Cherokee and get another RV I will most definitely get another keypad actuated lock.
