LED awning light dimmer install help

We have a 2018 Rockwood mini lite and the awning lights are way too bright. I ordered this dimmer controller https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I connected the wires directly from the awning to where they come inside the storage area and are connected to another set of wires which lead to the switch. The dimmer did not work and it became hot to the touch. Do I need to have a dedicated power and ground to switch to get this to work? It appears the 3 toggle switches that control the interior, the scare and the porch light are piggy backed together.

Dimmable seen to be 5volt to 15volt. Don't know why, but the ones I put up in side are and work fine. This range of LEDs was in the instructions for the dimmers. Hope this helps.

Figured it out. I wired the LED controller in reverse.

Does it still work now that you turned it around?

Note: The current rating for this dimmer is 1.2 amp at 12 volts DC not the 12 amps as advertised. Works well with the awning LED light strip.

Curious about amp draw on my 2017 34qs awning led's, as it must have 75 led's. even at .1 amp that 7.5 amps at the end. Does that sound right? Here's an age old question, does the light in the refer go off after you close the door? same question as when your awning is retracted & you turn on your porch light do the led's come on?

LED's are very low draw. I just installed a 16' LED strand on our MH. Before I did, I checked that they worked. I used an old AC adaptor that was for an old laptop that I no longer have. It is only 2.6 amps. It fired them right up no problem. I am now using the same AC adaptor to power two 12v 20w lights that are over our bed. It won't light them both at once. They draw 1.5 amps each so three amps total. I have ordered LED replacements.
