Lose TV signal when running Microwave

This is one for the books and I have verified it in front of many others.
This has been going on from day one.

When I'm recieving my TV signal from my rounds Digital antenna in my 2012 Georgetown all is great. Clear channels etc.

When my DW uses the Magic Chef microwave I lose the actual TV signal and the TV goes blank on the screen. When the microwave goes off the signal returs and all is well. This happens on all channels.

I have tested the microwave for RF leakage using a flourescent tube and it doesn't show any leakage.

Now I can hear the wheels turning trying to figure this one out.

My guess is the magnatro tube in the microwave is leaking and interferring with the TV circuit board and some how stopping that signal.

Anyone else want to guess what is causing this?

Iggy, is the microwave and tv (or a powered antenna) running on the same ac circuit? Also have you checked the wiring from the antenna to the television for any loose connections or possibly broke shielding (in coax) that may be allowing EMI (electromagnetic interference) to seep in?

The antenna and booster runs off of 12 volt DC and TV off of 120 volt AC so no coralation there. I have checked the coax and all is good.
Really weird huh.

Could it be something more simple? Have you tried using a different input source? Cable hookup? Maybe it's more of an electrical issue than a microwave issue. Try running an extension cord from another outlet to tv.

Maybe your Microwave is leaking and disrupting the signal.

I remember when microwaves first came out. It was more entertaining to watch food get nuked that watch MacNeil/Lehrer .

Here is the reply from Magic Chef when I discribed the condition.

FROM Magic Chef
Microwaves use a RF signal to heat food, and it is not uncommon for other items also using radio signals to experience interference, such as television stations. The issue is usually a shielding issue somewhere between the television and the antenna.
Thank you,

Iggy,

Be careful, that RF energy can lower your sperm count.

Hmmm, maybe I should send Magic Chef a bill for my consulting fee. LOL

IGGY; don't feel like the lone stranger, my microwave does the same thing, and to a lesser extent it will sometimes happen when the bathroom exhaust fan is turned on. My guess it's also due to the newer digital signal.
