Angry microwave turntable guide melted.

I have a 990w microwave oven in my Wildcat and the turntable guide is melted to the point that the plate won't turn. I called Magic Chef and they can't find the model no. that is on the data plate. I have tryed it on line and it keeps coming up that the no. is no good. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't get any information if there is a problem with the unit overheating or if the guide is just junk. Right now I am afraid to use this oven.

I can't help you with the model number problem, but the turntable guide should NOT get hot. Did you run the oven with no food in it? I can't see why the guide would melt. I would not use it.

What was on the plate when the rollers melted??
Some things, especially meats that have grease but little or no water
will get very hot.
It could have over heated the container and then the plate and then
the cheapie plastic rollers would be next.

I can only guess you're getting the model number wrong some how.
Maybe a zero is actually an Oh or something like that.
A capital (eye) can look like a (one).

Take a close up photo of the model number plate and post it here or
send it to the tech support for Magic Chef. I bet they'll figure it out.

Good luck!
