I have a pair of hotspots - first (and what I use 99% of the time) is a Verizon Jetpack Mifi 6620L with an unlimited data plan behind of it. Second and rarely used is an AT&T Sierra Wireless Unite which is on my 15gb shared data plan (with our 3 phones also).

The biggest thing is look at coverage areas for where you want to go.

The next thing to look at is the range on the hotspots. I find their wifi network speed degrades after about 10-15 feet. You can see it up to 25-50' away, but it's super slow. Adding a real wireless router to the mix makes a huge difference in terms of performance.

Do you have a Business Plan with Verizon? I'm interested in the unlimited data plan you mentioned, but unable to locate the plan or pricing on Verizon's website.

Currently I have a 40 Gigabyte plan with my Sierra 770S Hotspot through AT&T.

There's a whole market of folks buying and selling them. I found my provider thru http://www.rvmobileinternet.com.

My wife and I each have a cell phone. Hers is on MetroPCS (T-Mobile) and mine is on Verizon. At least one of ours will usually work in any given location. We also have the WeBoost (Wilson) 4G RV setup which gives us 60 dB signal boost. In all of our travels we've only been in one place where we couldn't get some kind of signal on one or the other cell phones. With either cell phone we can set up a wifi hotspot so we can have Internet wherever we go.

I second the rvmobileinternet.com website, Cherie and Chris do an awesome job documenting the options at a high level for any user, but if you join their MIA program you get access to all sorts of additional information, plus a FB group especially for MIA members. Worth every penny I paid for me. Also got an unlimited Verizon data plan and the newer AC791 wireless device based upon info I learned there.

I too have an unlimited Verizon business data plan. I own a 6620l MiFi and I lease a unlimited SIM I found on ebay for $120 a month. I have been doing testing and it has worked well so far but that has been close to bigger cities. I will find out more as we start real traveling at the end of the month. I need good bandwidth to do my work and in my testing I use about 2-3 gb a day so I think this is going to work out well, ( at least I hope ).

We just bought a Jeep that has a WiFi Hotspot and if you have figured out how to run your Hot Spot from your truck without running the engine or draining the battery, please share!

Bob...the truth is I don't know. I spect you're right. This is new to us. I will let you know after first trip.

But it does work....and I can at least get bills paid in x minutes if running it.....vs not having it.

As for b/w....we have 6 gigs and rarely use even 1.

And....full disclosure...I get a certain retirement check from one of the carriers mentioned above. Two of them are about the same IF you get their coverage in your area. One of them basically serves metro areas.

I am not in the Pacific Northwest but I travel quite a bit. We use a Verizon unlimited data hotspot. We actually use it for home internet as well. We live in a rural area and the Internet choices were either extremely slow CenturyLink or satellite which gets to be expensive with their caps on usage. This past month we have used 200 gig of data on on the Verizon plan. There are 2 options to acquire Verizon unlimited data. One is to lease a line from someone or to find one to purchase outright, usually a large initial outlay. I do have access to some rentals for $150 per month if anyone is interested.
