Best bet may be to install a proper monitoring system. SeeLevel and iSeries are the main two on the market. I have done a bunch of research and they both seem to be good solid systems. Just have to choose which features are important to you. I am leaning towards the SeeLevel, because I want the second outside monitoring station.

The stock monitors seem to come in two types, those that work (more or less) and those that don't.

I tested wiring all seems OK per mfg tech.
I removed tank to clean, re-installed and used tank sensor cleaner ...
Same problem: empty tank indicates full.
All this work and same problem

Monitor Panel?

It would be nice if the sensors were installed for easy access. 1/2"-3-4" between tank and frame rail. No even enough to see which wires go where. That was one of the reasons for tank removal. The project just kept getting worse.... Tank vent pipe was NOT installed straight thru roof, flexing pipe still did not allow me to get it back thru the roof hole; had to enlarge hole!

Here's a very positive answer to your problem. These sensors read "thru" the tanks, no penetration and no liquid contact. Proof is in the pudding- 3 + years in service 4 tanks never a bad reading. Look up Precision Circuits Inc. digital monitoring. Call ask if your wiring will work, it may. Pickups glue anywhere. Positive solution to tank film.
