You can feel the click. No further.
Once it clicks, you may push in on the radio a bit to release. Then pressure outwards. Sometimes you can release one side at a time.

I tried again. I put it in just until it "caught." I swear I heard something snap so I fear I broke something. I tried one side at a time, I tried pushing in, then spread, I tried it all. IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS HARD!

I guess when it's convenient I'll take it to a pro.
