Need advice on ac/hp problem

Hi all,

My AC/HP occasionally clicks on and off rapidly about ten times before finally starting. Normally while we're sleeping and it wakes us up because it's so loud. We're connected to shore power. It's as if it's trying to start but not getting enough juice or the thermostat signal is interrupted. I installed a hard start capacitor but it didn't make a difference. It happens on AC or HP mode.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Might check the deadband on the thermostat. If I recall it's default is 2 degrees. If it's set at 1 degrees, you'll hear chatter in the control relays. The relays are in the A/C unit. That's been my experience.
