Need help with a door above the fridge V-Lite

My 09 V-Lite didn't have a compartment over the fridge. I have seen pics of ones that do. I opened up the area above the fridge and now want to put a door on it. My local dealer said that I need a VIN number from a V-Lite that has this door already there or FR can't give them the right door. Any help from fellow V-Lite and I think V-Cross owners would be appreciated.

If you can find a contact at FR and explain what you're looking for they can probably give you a part number that your dealer can order.

For the most part, there should be very little storage in that area.....the fridge vent goes through there.

Is it possible that you have another door on your V lite that is the same size as what you need for the opening? If so, you can order that door from your vin and/or model number, and then attach it on there. Just a thought....Randy

Anybody ever opened it up and removed the 6 cu ft fridge and put an 8 cu ft in its place? If I ever have to replace the fridge I will be looking into it. Seems like it would be a nice mod.

Ours does not have a door either, although there is not much space above the fridge to start with.

It opened up a space almost 12" deep and the width and height of the opening. I had to make a box in the area because it does have a gap on the sides and then you do have the fridge vent in the back. It mad enough room to store paper plates aluminum foil and small items. If you tackle this make sure you seal around your box as the vent from the roof will allow a nice breeze in a strong wind LOL.

08 I have not found nay doors that size or even close to it. But thanks for the thought. Bama I asked the same question to my local dealer and they said they have tried to get things that way and it never worked and I would guess it is the way FR has their parts listed. That is why they said try and find someone that has that compartment and use that VIN and it would be easier.

I have never looked at ours but I will today as more storage is always my wife's favourite thing. One thing I did do was have my dealer replace the interior panel for water heater access with a door. This makes it much easier to get at, especially when some overzealous border guard wants to inspect in there. By the way, I'm not complaining as they are only doing their job and I can understand the need to be thorough now and then. Old Guys
