Nervous about stereo.

I have orders a 2013 shamrock 233s. So I am reading this forum to suck up as much info as possible. Lots of negativity about the Concertone stereo system.
How can I find out what model number my 233s will come with?
I am guessing a ZX75.

We have over 24,000 users now. While many folks have had issues with AV units made by Concertone (including the new Genesis units), the lion share has had no issues at all with their radios. No one complains about radios that work exactly as advertised.

Think positive thoughts. If you do have problems, most have been solved here either by folks who have replaced their units with other manufacturer's units or by Bob Fields a factory rep and member.

FYI, My Concertone ZX-700 works great and there is not an after market unit around that has all the features of the ZX-700 and Genesis units at anywhere near the price point.

We just traded off our Rockwood that had the concertone and had no problems in the seven seasons we used it.

Now I am more nervous. FR doesnt know what model it will be either! How many options are there???
Here is my email from them:
TOM,

UNFORTUNETLY I WILL NOT KNOW WHICH MODEL OF DVD/STEREO IS IN YOUR CAMPER UNTIL IT IS COMPLETED. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS THAT COULD BE IN THERE. IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH LET ME KNOW.

Option 13, have them pull all the wires, but leave the stereo out. Then go and buy what you want. I guess since I grew up camping in places with no water, power, or sewer, and the only bath was in the trout stream with water at 40 degrees. That is what I go for. Couldn't even get radio reception back in the mountains.

Now question for you to ponder, if you are camping, and the stereo quits, are you packing up and coming home? Refer, water heater, I understand. But the stereo? Don't loose any sleep over it.

Don't you have enough to worry when you finally get the camper home and are using it? Seems like you shouldn't be worrying about something you don't even have yet. We have a 2012 Rockwood with the Genesis 3.0 and it has worked flawlessly. The surround sound is awesome. Don't be scared off by all of the posts regarding Concertone. Yes, they used to have big time problems with the older units. Their quality is much better now. And Bob Fields from Concertone can assist you if you have any lingering issues. That is what your warranty is for. If you have a problem with it, get it fixed under warranty. But please dont' assume that your stereo, if its a Concertone, will be "junk." Jensen has also had some problems. And you won't find anything that is self-contained that has surround sound, radio, dvd, etc. on the market. Have you ever heard of not putting the horse before the cart?

I have 4 kids! The entertainment system is very important to keep them occupied so I can sit by a campfire and get some much needed rest doing nothing!
If it doesn't work I will have kids jumping all over me. Everyone out there with 4 kids will understand my concerns!

The only problems that I've ever had with my Concertone appear to be with the remote control. When it does "act-up", I shut everything down, take the battery out of the remote, turn the sterio back on (manually - w/o the remote), THEN put batteries in the remote. Last season, KNOCK ON WOOD, it worked flawlessly, and din't require any "resets".

'ya gotta do what 'ya gotta do!

I only have three kids and we don't have a TV in our trailer and they get along well without it (although the kids do bring these DS2 thingies to play). In fact, I like to impose bans on the electronics because 1) I can and 2) I want them camping, which means camping how I like to camp .

I will say even the TV wouldn't help get us some quiet time. Our girls will drop everything to sit with us once we get the campfire going.

Make sure its working during your PDI. If you have a problem with it, it can be repaired or replaced at that time. If it isn't working when you're camping, then your kids will have to (gasp!) play outside or join you around the campfire.

I have SEVEN kids (all grown now) and took them camping in both a class c and a TT, so while you have four kids you still have a ways to go! I even took all seven which included three 2 year olds at the time camping for a weekend by myself! My wife had the weekend to herself at home.
I think you got good advice here...

If I may ask; who sent you that reply from Forest River? Surely they would know as would your dealer from where you ordered it. The majority of Roos and Shamrocks come standard with the GT 2.0 (ZX75) and you would only get the GT 3.0 (ZX700) if you had ordered it as an option.

Now this is interesting.

Where did you get the GT 2.0 (ZX75) and GT 3.0 (ZX-700) info from?

This is a new one on me...
I have a ZX-700 in my 2010 Flagstaff and I am sure it does not have the features in the Genesis models.

You are correct; your Concertone doesn't have the same features and the Genesis systems. I was trying to state that the GT 2.0 is the ZX75's replacement and the GT 3.0 is the ZX700's replacement; not equivalent. I should have worded it differently.

Thanks for clearing that up!
I was very confused.

uggh

I have the Concertone ZX-700 in my unit, and the quality of the sound is absolutely horrible. I don't know if the problem is the speakers or the unit itself. All the functions work but the sound is so shallow. There is no bass at all. I have added a large speaker with no improvement, so I suspect the Concertone unit is inferior. I hope to find time to check the polarity (or phase) of all the speakers, but I don't expect to find any improvement. It is a major concern, and I would replace the unit and/or speakers at any cost to be able to listen to quality music. I hope to eliminate the problem and I think I might soon pitch the Concertone in a dumpster.

I would check the wiring first. If it is wired correctly and still sounds bad I would get it swapped out under warranty. I have no problems with my Concertone and am quite pleased with the sound. Good luck!

Bob,
Since my first post a Greg from FR sent me an Email stating: *

GT-2**STANDARD*RADIO

Now is this the same as a Concertone Z85?

Plus you are crazier than I am with kids!

I also have found out the people of this forum missed my humor even though adding a laughing icon after my statement about my kids.
My previous camper was a 1990 Jayco pop up. So I certainly know how much fun camping with no radio and just a campfire is with the kids. I will always have my harmonica with me to entertain around the campfire.
