New Concertone features on the way

Bob, will there be a trade up program for folks with the 690/700 to the newer High Def HDMI unit?

X2
Or my other brain wave is to put a Sony Brava micro system in as we never use the unit for anything other than playing DVD's and the TV is 115v so having a 12v sound system is a moot point. We have a brand new ZX 700 in ours that all it has played is a test disk to ensure it worked prior to winterizing the trailer.

Of course now begs the question Bob will the new series have Blu-Ray or still DVD as dvd's are going to go the way of the dodo bird sooner than later. I am just finishing upgrading all my home stuff to Blu-Ray and the trailer will be next if at all possible.

Sorry for the delayed response - I just returned home yesterday from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

There will indeed be an upgrade program so Concertone Owners can obtain the newest units for a discount.

I saw our latest unit in action while I was in California last week before the show - it was awesome! You will love the HDMI and a NEW feature that I cannot announce yet, but I know you will LOVE IT!

I am laying out the ground work and plans for my conversion van upgrades now...

Sooooo, currently we will still have DVD. Only Sony has announced a 12V Blu-Ray player (12V) and I got a run through at the show - since I am friends with most of those guys. Suppliers are now running wild trying to bring more reliable 12V drives to the market. We know we need to be there, but the costs are too high for too little choices.

Previously, we had several 12V LCDs and we are looking at bringing in more so you can have the 12V option for replacements. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the reply Bob,

One more question for the new units. Are they going to have an HDMI input on them as well as out? That would at least allow a Blu-Ray player to be attached properly to the system. And of course the itching question of an upgrade being offered to us ZX700 owners.

We will NOT have an HDMI Input on the next version. We have debated this and once we embed a Blu-Ray player, why else might we need one?

All feedback appreciated...

Others may think different but I agree Bob, the Blu-Ray was the only thing I could think of as one has to remember the intended use of these units. Of course others would argue the requirement for an HD satellite input to the unit. Of course all one would have to do is hook the HDMI out of the sat rx to the TV and then use the Digital out of the TV to the optical in on the new unit. Assuming having a TV like the Toshiba that came in our unit.

I am "leapfrogging" Blu-Ray. I will stick with standard DVD until the next great thing. I am still trying to sell parts of my VHS movie collection.

Video game systems. PS3, Xbox360, etc. there is an amazing difference!! Example is 'grand theft auto 4' there is a cell phone display in the bottom right. on a/v cables its barely readable, on hdmi you can read it as well as this text!

Totally agree about a lack of HD input on the unit is a deal breaker.
Pass on the "upgrade" and I will continue to use the TV as my accessory "switch."

All of my accessories are HD (either component or HDMI), including our iPad. Your unit will continue to just be my surround sound amplifier.

Your speaker selections need to be upgraded while you are looking at what to improve.
