No AC or Heat Pump

Went to turn on the heat pump last weekend and didn't hear it turn on. You hear a quiet "click" then nothing, same when trying AC so I figured it's something wrong with the AC unit.

Any suggestions on where I should start troubleshooting? Maybe a loose wire somewhere?

It wasn't near that cold, later in the day when it was warmer I tried the AC with the same result.

Pull the fuse for the heater for a minute and plug it back in. It is a 12 volt fuse. This will reset the thermostat. While you are there turn off the breaker for the ac and turn it back on. Mine would run the furnace instead of heat pump when switched to heat pump. Resetting it did the trick.

It was time for my monthly 2 hour generator run so I pulled the fuse labeled "furnace" and turn the break off for the AC unit then back on.

There was no other fuse labeled anything heater related

Didn't think the furnace fuse had anything to do with it but now the AC unit is working. Must have been turning the breaker on and off.

thanks for the suggestion!

The furnace fuse is also for the thermostat power. You just reset everything.
