No hot water

Hello

We have a 2019 Grey wolf Cherokee 284 DBH.

We have no hot water and the FLT light is on.
What does this mean and what do we do about it.

Thank you.

What manufacturer and model WH do you have and are you trying to run on propane or shore power?

While you're answering Flybobs question, make sure your propane is on, then make sure you can light your stove burners (purges the gas line of air). Then turn the water heater switch off for 15 sec and back on again. If FLT light comes on briefly and goes out, you're in business.

After you've responded to Flybob, we can help you more if necessary.

hot Water

So our trailer is a 2019 Grey wolf Cherokee 284 DBH

We had it on propane but the light kept coming on so we have switched over to electric. If this issue keeps coming up what when we have it on propane what does this mean?.

Is there water in the water heater?

Not that obvious a question as the heaters are bypassed when winterized and cold water will flow thru the bypass to the faucets when the hot tap is opened. Check the bypass valves ASAP. Running the water heater when empty will damage it.

If there's no water in the tank the LP will typically start and then switch off quickly. Activating the electric element with no water in the tank will destroy the element faster than you can switch if off again. Any RV dealer will have these in stock, it's a "high use" replacement item caused by no water in the tank.

Easy to check the bypass valves and if water in in the tank. Pulling the electric element is easy too -- if the tank is empty. There may be a LP valve near the tank but neither of my campers have had one I noticed.

We need to know the manufacturer and model number of your water heater, not the rv.
In the mean time check, for spiders web or bugs in the WH's burner tube. Also check the ECO/High Limit/Thermostat reset.

If you've got gas, I'm betting you have a bad control board. You should be able to get a new one from the manufacturer under warranty.

However, the ones made by Dinosaur are supposedly better. Some folks have replaced theirs with a Dinosaur, but still gotten a new one from the manufacturer for a "spare."

https://www.dinosaurelectronics.com/

Another check: Have someone turn the switch off. Go stand by the WH and have them turn it back on. See if you can hear the ignitor clicking. If so, the board is probably OK, but you're either not getting gas, or your spark isn't adequate to ignite it.

When we turn the water heater switch off. And turn the switch back on the FLT light goes out and we hear clicking. But after 1 or 2 uses the light comes back on and we have to redo the steps again. Although last night we never used it and the light was on in the morning. I'm not sure what the make and model number is at this time.

Thanks to everyone.

Hot water tank

I left the switch on to the water heater and the pump .I have no power either I heard a high pitch alarm sound coming from my 18 ft. fbrs micro lite I discovered it after two days. Did I ruin my water heater? The alarm shutoff after I turned off the switches to the water heater and pump .

"Alarm" is routinely the LP detector complaining about low battery voltage. Switching those devices off raised the voltage since nothing was pulling much power.

Leaving anything turned on will deplete the battery quickly. Disconnect the battery or connect to shore power.

Ok....let’s review.
If the FLT light stays on, it’s telling you there’s a failure to heat with propane. It has nothing to do with your stove working. It is suggested that you test fire the stove to make sure propane is flowing properly throughout your rig. Fridges can run on propane too if so equipped.
Turn your switch for FLT to “off” and leave it alone.
Do you have hot water if using electricity only?
Is the switch for electric water heater inside your unit or outside?
You should have either an Atwood or Suburban heater. Look for labels inside the door for the heater outside your rig. Which model do you have?
When was the last time your heater worked on propane satisfactorily?
Have you recently filled your propane tanks on your rig?
