No tv on batt power

Just got a 2012 Cherokee 274bh and when I unplug it from my 30 amp outlet the tv will not turn on, all lights and concert tone stereo work. What am I missing.

your tv is 110v AC, not 12v DC.
you need an inverter, shore power or a generator to run the tv. same thing for all the outlets.
the other stuff you mentioned, runs on 12v DC battery power.

certain things in your RV runs on 12v battery power and some things only work when you have shore power or a generator, like the tv, air cond, outlets and so on.

didn't the dealer go over that when you did the walk-through?

It's funny you ask we went over every thing but the tv. And when we got home I had to re wire the concerttone to work with tv on aux. I noticed the dc input on my tv so I assumed it was a dc tv. I'm new to such luxuries camping.

Tv is a 40watt legend le2421it has a dc adapter with a 110 plug on it. I assumed the rv converter fed the tv and other plugs with 110v a/c

Your converter takes the 110v from the shore power and converts it to 12v.

Right the converter takes 110 and converts to 12.
an inverter converts 12 to 110

Even unplugged your battery should power your tv.
unless your battery is dead or the circuit breaker near the battey is tripped.

Beside where the TV plugs in; do you also have a cigarette type plug like you would have in a car? If so, you can buy a universal power adapter somewhere like Radio Shack. I would take your current adapter in with you to the store to buy the adapter so they can get the right size for you.

A couple of very important things:
- Make sure you tell them your TV uses 40 watts. I found an adapter on their site that was good for 2.5 amps; which is only 30 watts.
- Make sure they test the polarity for you. (Assuming you don't have a tester yourself.) Most adapters allow the polarity to be reverse (being universal)- and having it wrong could do damage to your TV.

Even if you can get the tv to run off the batteries, they won't last long with that big of a draw. Best to forget about watching the news, and go for a walk!

I'm curious how you re-wired your system to get tv sound through the aux setting. I have a 2012 Rpod with a Jensen entertainment system that doesn't allow for tv sound through the stereo speakers.

I used an aux cable from the entertainment system to the headphone jack on the TV.

That would all depend on the battery bank he is running. I run a 26" led tv and the Dish receiver off an inverter. I have no problems. My battery bank consits of 2 Trojan SCS225 12V batterys.
