No TV Service

We are having issues with getting the cable and/or satellite working on our Palamino Columbus. We can hook the satellite in outside but it will only work on AUX in the living room but will not pick up the signal in the bedroom when hooked into the SAT hook in. Can someone help?

Have you selected the input type in your tv's menu? After selecting the input type you will have to do a channel scan on your tv when using a campgrounds cable connection. If you have a cable input on the outside of your trailer it will only work when the power button for the over-the-air booster is off. Some campgrounds may have the type of cable service where you need to rent a converter from them.

If you have a satellite input on the outside of your trailer it only connects to the satellite output at the main tv. It is a straight run coax without a splitter for another tv. You will need to set up your satellite dish and receiver. You will also need to select the input connection that your satellite is connected to in your tv's menu.

To use your roof top over-the-air (OTA) antenna you will have to turn on the antenna's booster which is a little button on the faceplate, select OTA in the tv's menu and run a channel scan. When the little light is on, the booster is on, if the light is off, the booster is off and the cable connection is passed through.

When we have the satellite hooked up it will only work through the Auxiliary hookup on the RV.

On the Cable, they said we need a digital inventer already on the TV. Most TV’s come with that now.

It just very confusing why we have a satelittle hookup in our bedroom and it won’t work

They probably mean decoder. Some cable companies use a propriety digital signal and you need their decoder to convert the signal so your tv can use it. Most cable companies have phased it out as it is an older technology.

I can't help you with the satellite hookup. On the outside of my TT there is a cable input and satellite input. On the inside there is a satellite output behind the living room tv only. We have a large granite mound between us and the local tv stations so I have a separate OTA antenna on a 30' tower feeding the satellite input which I connected a splitter in the cabinet behind the stereo/dvd to connect to the living room tv and the bedroom tv. I don't have satellite at the trailer as we are surrounded by trees so there's not a clear line of sight to the southern sky.

Don't know what you have for a TT. We have a Rockwood and it has the Sat feed form outside to the main TV in living room. The wall plate has a connection to feed to the bedroom. Bought a signal converter and hooked it up to sat receiver out ( RCA connection ) and then to the connection on the wall plate. In the bedroom there is a wall plate that has 2 connections. 1 is for over the air/cable and the other for sat. I connect to the sat connection with coax and then to tv. Our sat receiver has an RF remote and we can use it in the bedroom with receiver in living room.

That’s exactly how it is supposed to work.

There is a really cool rewire that allows the output from your satellite receiver to be rerouted to your other TVs.

You could try something like this …

Obviously this mod was on an old style wall plate, but you could easily install an "manual" A/B switch and route the output of your Sat Receiver to the new input on the existing wall plate.

Connect the TV2 input of the wall plate to a new F2 socket on the face of the wall plate. (Label it TV FEED)

Connect the existing coax that WAS connected to the TV2 input to a new F2 socket on the existing wall plate. (Label it TV SOURCE)

Connect the AUX/SAT on the plate to your SAT receiver and the coax output on your SAT receiver to the TV FEED to play the Satellite programming to all the TVs in the camper.

To use the roof antenna or park cable, just connect a jumper from the TV FEED to the TV SOURCE F2 connectors and use as you normally do.
