Noisy Atwood AC
I have a 15.5 Atwood (Dometic) air conditioner with heat pump. When selecting Auto Cool mode the fan runs continuously, which is normal. When cooling is needed the compressor starts and runs until selected temperature is reached. It works just fine BUT when the compressor shuts down it makes an instant stop. No slowdown..just stop. When it does this I can hear it clearly and it makes a “thumping” motion that sounds and feels like a rubber ball got bounced off the roof.
I talked to Dometic and they didn’t have a clue. Anyone else notice something like those?

 At some point during every day you suddenly realize nothing else productive is going to happen the rest of that day. For me, it usually occurs around 9 am.
