On third unit now. 2014 3010ds original AC unit was Dometic Brisk Air II 15,000 with heat pump. Dometic advised they would upgrade my unit to penguin model but sent one without heat pump. Maybe time to bite the bullet and go with different manufacturer.

Unit 3 has just quit. I have steadily watched it crap out over the last 2 days. When we arrived at our weekend spot on Friday night, I felt it was taking too long to cool the unit down. According to the infrared thermometer, I was getting a 15 degree difference on the 15k unit, and getting a 25 degree difference on the 13.5k unit. As of now I am getting a 5 degree difference on the 15k dometic briskair II. My TT is 23 months old.
MVE7464, how did you get Dometic to agree to the penguin model? I don't want another brisk air unit that will die in about 6 months. At this point, I am ready to pay out of pocket to go with a different manufacturer. I'm extremely tired of investing my time in this matter. What is the most trouble free ac unit available?
It seems that dometic can't produce anything but crap.

My service department told me that Dometic made the decision to upgrade to the penguin ii due to the amount of trouble I had with the Brisk Air unit. I'm back and running but not a satisfied customer. My original unit was 15,000 BTU with heat pump. Now I have penguin ii no heat pump and the dealer thinks it's 13,500 BTU. Dometic advised if I needed the heat pump it would be 6 more weeks and I couldn't use the one they sent in the mean time. I personally think the penguin ii was all they had in stock to cover the warranty claim.

If they'll give me the 15k penguin w/o heat pump, I'll be happy(er). We'll see what happens. I don't look forward to dragging it back to where I purchased it. My dealer was bought out by campers inn.

I ended up using a local Dometic dealer not the dealership I purchased the MH from. Although my local dealer only sells trailers they are the authorised repair shop for most if not all of my non chassis parts. Best of all they have amazing customer service. Can't say the same for the place I bought the MH from.

I tried several Dometic service places and received the same old story,.. Can't possibly get you in before 25 August. As much as I hated to do so, I called the dealer where I purchased our TT. They said to drop by so they could look at it. I left the house at 6am this morning to get to the north side of Atlanta before rush hour got ridiculous so I would be there when they opened at 8 am. The new service manager (at what used to be PECO Campers) had a tech on it and by 11am I was on my way home with a new 15K brisk air II. I'm told the replacement unit has a 2 year warranty which started today. Maybe this one will last more than 6 months.

Re: "I'm told the replacement unit has a 2 year warranty which started today." lesptr: IF, and I'm saying IF the service manager, the service tech or even the owner of the dealership told you that, this is the first time I have heard of anyone making or hearing that statement. As you have probably read on this forum there have been hundreds of people who have had their Dometic 15K Brisk Air units replaced and been informed that the replacement unit falls under the original date of purchase two year warranty. I will say this, IF Dometic is now giving a two year warranty on replacement units then there are hundreds, if not thousands nationwide, that feel we are due the same warranty on units we have had replaced. I am now on my third Dometic Brisk Air II unit and my travel trailer was purchased January 2015.
