Portable ice maker

I'm looking to purchase a portable ice maker for the camper. Right now, I'm looking at the New Air AL100SS or the AL215SS. The 100 is capable of producing up to 28 lbs per day while the 215 can do up to 50 lbs. Does anyone have any experience with these, or is there a better product out there.

I recently purchased the Dometic at Camping World. If you catch it on sale, it's a great deal. Stainless steel and looks sharp.

We love ours. It holds a gallon on water in the reservoir and pumps out ice like crazy.

We just bought the Emerson that was on sale at Target. Ordered it online and had it shipped to the house. About 115.00 total.
Works great, DW has it on the counter and makes her ice with it. She prefers this to the fridge ice maker. Pumps out the 1st ice cubes in about 13-15 minutes after add water and plug it in.

You must remember (Most) of these (Make ice) they do Not (Keep) ice! Most people would not use 50# a day,and that would take a Lot of Freezer space! Maybe a sign (Ice for SALE)! Youroo!!

I have the smaller igloo (similar to the new air 100) it is good for about 2-3 adults worth of ice. The ice melts back into the hopper, so it just cycles and keeps the bin full. But when you get several people scooping ice it falls behind quickly. A friend has the 50# version and theirs can keep up to a bunch of adults enjoying drinks rather well.

YouRoo, The primary reason/justification for 50 lbs a day is: we are going to be spending almost two weeks in the infield at Daytona, prior to, and after the race. I like to keep my adult beverages in a cooler stocked with ice, and a 10 lb bag of ice from the vendors is $5.00 a bag. I end up using about two bags a day when there. Figure that it can't hurt to have to much and it would almost pay for itself just with those two weeks. Not a bad idea about the sign either.

Yep!! Glad this thread came along.

When we are out camping ice is typically $3-$6 a #10 bag and we load up the cooler every day for lunch, water, sodas and juice out on the riding trail.

We use about 20lbs of ice a day. Thanks for the info!!
