Power Booster Problem

I have a Winegard connected to the Concertone in my 07 Cherokee. Often the power booster (ant/sat) will not turn on indicating a short to the antenna. How do I find this short as the wiring is through the wall and ceiling I'd imagine. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. I thought maybe bad ground, but not sure how to check. Need some ideas. thanks

Ed

Hi ED

You will find the short between the roof and the antenna base. This will cause the malfunction. You will find that you will need to clean the antenna connector and this will fix the problem hopefully. If the problem still persists you will need to replace the booster.
I hope you find this useful.

Thanks for the response FREtech. So if I understand this correctly, you say I should clean the connector that attaches to the antenna. In my case, the coax comes through the roof and up the mast of the antenna and attached to the RG connector. Is that the connector you are describing? That connection did appear a little weathered.

thanks

Well, last week on vacation I cleaned and replaced the connector on the antenna mast. Still no resolution. My thinking is that there must be a splitter or connection between the mast and the booster I can't see. ( I know this because of the two different color coax cables. Grey on roof , and black coming into the power booster. Does anyone know the splitter or connection may be in the 29B or is there something else I can try.

Thanks

A campingfriend of mine has a Jaco and he just found out that his antenna never did work from day one, they always watch moves or Dish Net Work. He had repaired his antenna his self so i think he knows where everything is. He works with electronic as an occupation and made mod to the the antenna and his signal is stronger. I will contact him today and find out some info.
