Presetting AM/FM Stations on ZX-75

I can figure out about anything electronic, but programming the ZX-75 radio stations into memory has gotten the best of me... How is it done??? The manual is pathetic and offers little into the operation of the unit... Everythiing works fine but just am unable to program into memory (1-10) a good station. I have read this forum and tried all that has been posted. Ideas, suggestions...

I struggled for a while with this one too! Select FM1. Press and hold the play button. The radio will now scan for stations. It will remeber the first 10 stations as FM1 and if it finds more it will store up to 10 additional stations in FM2. Now select FM1 or FM2 and press Mem up or Mem down to cycle through the stations in the memory. Select AM1 and repeat the process for your AM stations.

Unhappy

Also, remember that if you use a battery cut-off switch, like I do in between trips and while in storage - all those settings are gone...

I tune the station, then press and hold the 1/2/3/etc button on the remote and it will program...
