Progressive Industries warranty/Yamaha generators

I just stumbled across information that the Progressive Industries (PI) life time warranty is VOID if their EMS surge protectors are used in conjunction with a Yamaha generator Model EF2000iS. I confirmed this with PI technical department this morning. Apparently, the Yamaha does not generate enough start-up current which causes the EMS units to overload.

I have had both (PI EMS-HW30C and Yamaha 2000) for about a year now with no problems, so far. Has anyone had problems with the PI EMS/generator combination?? I'm trying to assess whether this is a potential big problem for me, or just an isolated case or two, that have popped up.

I guess that I'll have to come up with a by-pass for the EMS unit while under generator power.
