Propane detector alarming.

The propane detector alarms constantly in my 2010 Greywolf. I reset it and it alarms again a few seconds later. The propane is disconnected. There is no cutoff switch so I cut one of the leads to make it stop alarming.

Is it one with a battery backup? If so the battery may be low.

My 2011 Georgetown did same thing i cut wire and it cut the gas off at the tank.Replace detector ,and now thing are good ,the detector about $300.00 you get detector and thing cut the off. I just replace detector .It said replace frist year.

For safety sake PLEASE replace or repair your detector.
Cutting the wires to shut it up is a bad idea because it is "out of ear; out of mind".

They should put plug in no they hard wire it so no other way,but cut it.

What I meant was that it is normal for folks to forget to fix what does not bug them. How many folks remove the 9V battery from their home smoke detector due to a "burnt offering"; then NEVER replace the battery after the smoke clears.

Any Fireman will tell you horror stories about dead people and smoke detectors w/o batteries sitting on a counter or shelf in kitchen.

Propane detectors must be in working order....Several years ago ours would go off once or twice a week in the middle of the night. After a lengthy witch hunt it turned out that a copper flare fitting had work hardened and broke under the chassis. The alarm came on very calm nights when sufficient propane could accumulate without being swept away by the wind.

CO monitors also....Got an alarm middle of night due to generator exhaust being pushed back under chassis by a very light breeze

Did you know that PD's also sound when gasses from lead-acid batteries are present? The H2 sometimes activates the system-- but one should respond and not let it go.

This happend to us when we equalized the batteries which caused gassing.

I'm sure other combinations also affect the system, be careful.

It could be a ground wire as well as a 12v battery problem.
Ours was going off because our converter was shorting out.
then we were in the dark, no power for anything.

Had the same problem in a brand new camper. With no gas on it would go off sometimes. A few times it was weeks after the gas had been off. Sent it back to the company and they did not find anything wrong with it. I install a switch to turn it off when we are not camping. It is on my check list to turn on before leaving home on a camping trip.
