HF doesn't have a 2000w INVERTER generator for $249. It's on sale for $429.

Maybe a small open frame contractor style generator.
Do you have a link or pic?

The HF 2000 watt surge generator is normally $499. Every once in a while you can find a coupon for $429 or find it on sale. I doubt they will reduce its price during the summer which is generator season.

It was on sale last weekend for a big tent sale for $429 but backup to $499 this weekend but there may be regional differences in pricing.

If you are going to spend $499, I'd go with the Champion 2000 watt surge generator (inverter) which has a better warranty, often can find online with free shipping and possibly no sales tax. Champion has 3 year warranty and stock warranty for harbor freight is 90 days.

Homedepot.com has the champion 2000 for $449 plus tax w/ free shipping.

BTW, you can get the dual fuel CHAMPION 3400 inverter generator with electric start (no remote start) for 799.00,. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PRICE. New Champion 3400-Watt Dual Fuel RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator with Electric Start 100263 - $799.00 : championpowerep.com

I bought a Champion 2000 inverter for less than a HF model at Lowes. Was same price without veterans discount. The cover was $10.96 at HD and $20+ at Lowes.

HF has the $429 coupon nearly every other week.

The Champion exec. Start dual fuel is a great generator. I bought the 3500W model from Camping World. Runs my a/c, charges batteries, but needs to have the microwave all alone to run it.

This is my second Champion, both 3500 watt units with one an open frame running great after 14 years and the newer one an inverter type. Open frame unit too noisy for campgrounds but the inverter is nice and quiet. Both generators are Honda clones and for half the price they're a great value. The inverter unit is 106 lbs so I just leave it in the truck for short stays. Bought a $97 pickup bed crane to load and unload for longer stays.

I'm getting older and/or lazier so I even use the crane to load 6gal gasoline containers.

Might be a better deal and larger output but people will hear it running in the next zip code.

I believe most are talking about campground friendly, quieter, inverter style instead of something more suitable for a rural building site.

Weird, my 3400 surge/3100 continuous Champion inverter runs both the air conditioner and microwave at same time with no problem. However, my batteries are almost always at 100% and no load from converter to charge them,.

That's probably why mine needs to have loads shed. When I first tried using microwave and ac I may have had the converter busy charging batteries. In my TT the load panel is right next to the microwave so by habit I just reach over and hit the circuit breakers until done with microwave.

After my trip that starts in two days I'll be back home and around here camping rarely requires ac.

WOW, I pray you don't use that deafening machine in a campground![emoji32][emoji32][emoji32]

That generator would be great for home backup power or some motor races.

I had that 5500 watt open frame non-inverter generator and the NASCAR driver's complained about it being too loud so I had to get rid of it. ;-)
