PUP smoke detector "chirps" every minute

Hey, i've had my Flagstaf MAC 228-D for about 18 months. Used it alot and no prob lems until last few months. The smoke detector keeps chirping every minute or so even when the DC is disconnected and the PUP closed up. Does this thing have a bettery? If so, how do you replace it? It seems to be solidly in the ceiling and I don't want to break it.

Yes it has a battery that needs to be replaced. You should be able to either twist it to the left (counter clock wise) or it may have one edge that pops off and will swing down to the side in order for you to get to the battery.

Note to everyone, change your batteries in the smoke detectors.
