Unhappy Radio/stereo no reception 2015 Sabre 34RDKS

I can't get any stations on my camper stereo. not even the one at the college 3 miles from me. On the brochure it states "exterior mounted antenna for improved reception". I slid the stereo out of the cabinet mount and much to my surprise/dismay, there is a goofy cable plugged in the back of the radio with a sticky backed strip antenna about 18" long that was balled up and stuck together jammed down inside the wall between the radio and outside kitchen wall. I do have an exterior antenna on the roof but what is it hooked too if anything? Perplexed and disappointed at just 9 days in with our new unit.
Larry.

My unit has a small flexible 12" external antenna that does not pick up anything either. My previous unit has a long 30" automotive antenna. That one worked great.

It is sad they did not see fit to put in a useful antenna.

radio antenna

My camper has the 30" automotive style on the roof, and i'm wondering if the idea is to stick the ribbon type antenna from the radio to the aluminum structure in the wall which would connect it to the 30" one on the roof thru the camper wall frame?
I'm sure if the cable from the 30"er were directly hooked to the radio there would be no problem...Ugh.

I have the exact same problem. My previous trailer got radio stations with no problems on the same site. I'm thinking my antenna isn't hooked up correctly.

I can get a little tabletop radio with a short antenna to play just fine.
