Refrigerator troubleshooting question

I / we are helping a member of our camping group try to solve the mystery of his Refrigerator. It is a Dometic AC/Gas refrigerator that has us all stumped as to what is going on. The unit works great when operated / set to GAS.. but does absolutely nothing when set on (auto) AC. Thus far we have checked to make sure 110 AC is present to plug in, that 110 AC is present as an output to the heating element connection points on the circuit board when turned on and have measured continuity / resistance of heating element. The element resistance readings are same as the elements in other working refrigerators in other trailers. HERE IS THE PROBLEM.. When set to gas, the boiler area shield is warm to the touch and the refrigerator / freezer cools / freezes properly. We then shut the refrigerator off for several hours to resume normal room temperature. Once that happens, we set the unit to auto (AC) the heating element gets warm/hot and so is the same boiler shield area as when the unit is on gas BUT the refrigerator / freezer stays room temperature and never cools. What might we be overlooking or is there something else to check.. It seems as though it should cool no matter what source of heat (gas or AC) is used to heat the coolant.

A contact thermometer reading would help, but it sounds like a circuit board or 110-VAC element problem.

"Hot" to the touch is very relative; it's like a logorithmic change. Think dB changes.

If you have a club buddy's board available, swap it out. That eliminates half of the problem.

Board swapped

Board swapped... Same result... Cools on Gas operation just fine.. When operated on AC, heating element gets hot but no cooling what so ever. Can't understand why boiler is getting hot same as with gas but no cooling..
