Replacing ZX75

I'd really like to replace the ZX75 in our Salem. It's operation can only be described as wonky and irregular. The DVD player controls aren't user friendly, it randomly refuses to read certain discs, and the stupid alarm is making me nuts. So...as for the size of the opening I have--is it true that the only options I have are the ZX-series--25,50, or 75? Or is there something better available? Just thinking ahead to winter projects.😊

luckily, with the ZX75 you have more replacement options.
the most popular replacement is the Jensen AWM970. should be almost the same dimensions. many are available on Ebay.
there are also other Jensen models that size.

First thing that got jettisoned on our pop up was that ZX25 POS. The hole it came out of is big so I used a blank cherry award plaque to cover that hole and then put a DIN 2 Sony stereo in it's place. The interior speakers were wired to the same channel. Mounted some Yamaha exterior 6 ohm speakers out side under the camper....rewired inside speakers and put in a 50watt amp to drive the outside speakers and now it sounds really really great at low volume.

Thanks for the replies so far. Has anyone on here either (a) replaced their ZX75 with a newer (better?) ZX75, or (b) replaced their ZX75 with one of the Jensen units (either 970 or 975?) If anyone has done option "b," I'm also seeing a "retrofit replacement harness" to make it a cleaner install with no cutting/splicing of wires. Does this sound legit? It almost sounds too easy to me. Thoughts?

You will probably end up having to wire your own harness plug into your existing setup if you decide to go other than OEM. Crutchfield would be a great place to research out what is available for you particular setup.

FYI - The ZX75 was replaced with a ZX85 more than a year ago, This new unit is upgraded throughout and includes Bluetooth technology so you can talk hands free with your Bluetooth enabled cell/smart phone AND most importantly stream music from your Bluetooth enabled iPhones, Blackberries, iPods, Galaxies, etc. Feedback has been very positive.

The ZX85 is a plug and play replacement for your ZX85, but since we have gone with a slot loader now you will need to ensure you have 5" of depth and you will need to make the hole 1/2" taller. The width is the same.

For any Forum Members considering upgrading to our ZX85 or ZX800, please contact me directly for special pricing.
