Right angle cable adapter issue 8311SS

Hello all, Got a strange issue I can't seem to figure out well fix. In our 8311SS, the main tv came supplied with a right angle cable adapter on it. I believe this was so there was not so much strain on the coax cable as the space between the back of the tv and the wall unit is very small. The funny thing is that if I am using my HD antenna this tv looks great, but if I hook up to cable and turn the booster off this tv looks really bad (fuzzy) and I do not pick up nearly as many channels as I should. So, with the adapter off everything works as expected. Is the adapter somehow busting up the cable signal, and has anyone else seen this?

When switching to cable input, you are doing the right thing to turn off antenna amp on Winegard Sensar wall plate (assuming that's what you have) which should also switch incoming signal from antenna coax to cable coax. Also, some tv's require you change channel settings in a tv menu from air to cable, and do another search for channels. You doing this too?

There's probably a problem with the fittings on the Cable-in on your RV.

Thanks Rip, yep I am doing all that. And I do pickup channels just not very many and not very well. I will try a different adapter to see.

That's a good idea to try.

And, Barry makes your next trouble-shoot suggestion after that. On mine, I can see inside a cabinet where my two cable and satelite coax's connect to my outside wallplate. I can trace my cable coax from there to see where it connects to my Winegard wall plate.

If yours is similar, one of those connections may be a culprit. The reason our next suggestion involves the cable feed is because you said your air signals were good but not your cable.

And here's another suggestion as you trouble-shoot, instead of hooking up your outside cable coax to the outside of your trailer, try hooking it up directly to your tv, and if still problem, then to another tv. Your outside cable coax connections or feed may be bad. Good luck.

Thanks again, but I don't think the inside wiring has anything to do with it, because if I take off the right angle adapter all is fine with both air and cable. But I am affraid over time that the add pressure on the coax will create a bad connection. I will try going straight in to the tv and see if I can get a different result with the adapter on and off.

I was just spinning your wheels with a suggestiion about checking the cable feed. Sorry 'bout that.

I have heard that the right-angle adapters can cause problems, but I can't remember the reasoning behind it. Maybe ask someone at Radio Shack or some other electronics place.
