Roof top Air Conditioner

Has any one had a problem with a Dometic 15k BTU roof top air conditioner not cooling ??

I have a 2015 Surveyor 265RL and have had the dealer check the A/C unit, he said it was working fine.
I just completed a six week trip and when the outside Temp. was above 79-80deg F the inside Temp. would not get below 76-77deg F and the unit ran all the time.

Any answers ???

There were a few threads and a poll started in the last 2 days about this exact question. Hit the search feature or look under "recent" and you will see them and most likely find the answers

Take the filter grate off and check the return air / fresh air divider to see if it hasn't come loose.

When it is hotter out it should drop the temp more. No more then 10 -15 then outside . Get a laser light temp recorder they are cheap measure temp coming out should be in the no more then
Upper 40 low fifties.

Smile 2015 Dometic Brisk A/C

Bought our Sunseeker 2860 in June 2014 and just wasn't cooling right last year. This year one trip and no cooling 1 month left on warranty. Took it to dealer who checked and replaced A/C unit, loss of freon. Even with other units in line took less than a 2 week period. No cost, thanks McClain Rockwall, Texas

I have yet to check mine and should soon. The difference between ambient air at the return and the closest cold air outlet with a unit operating properly should be close to 20*. Things like poorly insulted ducts and improperly installed units will affect this reading. If you are only seeing a 10* difference there is a problem.

I have read somewhere in these posts that Dometic from late 2013 through early 2015 had 15,000 BTU units that were not fully charged at the factory and have since failed to cool after a short while. Mine was one of those units. My camper is in the shop having a new unit installed as I write this. Apparently the 13,500 BTU units did not suffer the same fate. We did not receive any recall information on this either.

Maybe just as likely, they had(have) leaks in joints and coils. This would allow initial good operation and then system deterioration over short time. If lacking charge in the beginning it would never operate well.

My 2014 Dometic 15k crapped out a week ago after roughly 8 uses. Cheap Chinese wiring harness had a wire go bad and burn out the compressor. It's in the shop waiting for a new compressor.

I'm surprised they are replacing the compressor, these roof top models are just like a window shaker in a stick house usually not worth replacing the compressor, faster and cheaper to replace the entire unit.

Bough our unit new in 9/14 and by 6/15 is was done. Dealer had it replaced under warranty. We just gave it a real workout last weekend in South Georgia where it got to 96 and it did just fine. The old one would have had us sweating in 85 degree inside temps...

Wouldn't surprise me, our 2014 unit crapped out in July of 2014 due to loss of freon/coolant. Was replaced under warranty and no issues since (knock on wood lol)

Roof top Air Conditioner

My 2014 crapped out, but due to an electrical short of some kind. So I got a recharge as a result anyways

Mine has been replaced twice. Let me guess you all have Dometics as well.
