Roof Top Satellite Installation

We just purchased a roof top automatic satellite dish but can't find any installation instructions from Forest River. It was our understanding that our 5th wheel was "satellite Ready". We have a 2016 Rockwood 8289WS Platinum package. Can anyone help? We wanted to have some idea of what is involved before we climb up on the roof.

So you won't be to disappointed, typically "Satellite Ready" means a coax cable has been routed to somewhere on your roof from where a receiver might be installed inside the rv. There also may be a power wire. The coax, typically, will not have a connector at the roof location. It will be coiled up. Sometimes the coax location on the roof is marked ("X", dummy vent cover, etc.) and sometimes it's not. Someone with a unit like yours will probably chime in. The install using this coax would be a permanent type install. If your antenna is a carryout this most likely would not be the interconnect location for that type of antenna. As said, this is a typical scenario. Of course, there doesn't seem to be to not many things typical about FR RV's when it comes to electrical.

Thanks. My primary question was whether or not I might find a coax to connect to at the install location. I did read somewhere that the location to install it was marked but not if there was something to connect to. The Wingard that we got is powered through the cable so no worries about a power connection.

I had the dealer's service dept install mine and they knew exactly the position of the coiled cable. On my Sunseeker, it was just forward of the front vent.

Maybe you could get the service dept to tell you where the cable is located.
