Satellite and Internet Service

Could I please get some names for internet Satellite Dishes folks have and satellite internet service folks have. Having a hard time searching internet, they are all cell tower people trying to sell as satellite. IF you have a satellite and tv service that would be great as well. Many many thanks.

Dish Network has a RV specific site.DISHForMyRV: DISH Mobile Satellite Systems & Pay As You Go TV for RV, Camping, Tailgating, & the Great Outdoors
We use the Winegard Pathway X2 we bought from amazon and a 211 receiver from home. you can also go directly to winegard site at Tailgating TV Antennas - Portable Satellite Antennas for Tailgating

I use DirecTv. I had it when we had our stick & brick house and just kept it when we went full time. Since I don't have a roof mounted dish, I have to set up a dish manually which, for DirecTv HD can be quite challenging at times.

Dish may more of an easier deal for RV'ers because many of the portable automatic dishes on the market will tune in Dish HD automatically & they offer a "pay as you go" deal (you can suspend your service for when you're not using it). The same portable dishes will also work for DirecTv but you will only receive standard definition.

As far as I know, satellite companies partner with one of the major phone communication companies such as Verizon for internet service (in my case when I had my house). So, I'm not sure how that will work using cell service only.

Satellites, RV & Portable Satellite Antennas, Satellite Receivers - Camping World.

There is a great site that deals exclusively with RV Mobile Internet Resource. Do a search for it. Great site!

I wish I had Dish, I have Direct and I have about 8 months left on contract and then I'll move back to Dish, it's cheaper. I have a Tailgater that works with Dish but I plan to sell it. I can setup a dish in about 15min. I use Verizon for my cell phone, I have 12 gigs, my son caught a deal and he has 30 gigs for not much more than I pay.

Hughes Net sells mobile sat service but it is very expensive. I either amplify the park's signal or use my 4G wireless router. If I get good throughput with the park then I will stream movies. Otherwise I just use the Internet for the normal, everyday things that life brings our way in the modern age. I do spend most of the year living in my RV due to work. The 4G router was the best, most economical solution I could come up with for Internet.

What are you trying to accomplish with satellite internet service that mobile internet won't provide?

I researched it and found that it was expensive to buy the hardware, it was finicky to setup at each location, the service was expensive, and the service was slow. It's just not a viable solution for a vast majority of the time.

I like the set-up and the quality of Dish Network now if they could get billing correct. I tried to explain I want pay as you go but they mess every time we shut if off and takes a phone call and 30 minutes on line to get turned back on.... I have even directed them to their own website that explains what Pay As You Go means... Brrrrrrrrr
