Either manual dish style antenna, with tri-pod stand, or a portable automatic sat. antenna, coax cable (RG 6), receiver from what-ever service you choose. Either set-up is portable, just depends on how long your at one site, how many trees there are. With mine, a King Flex for Direct tv, you push a button and the unit finds the sat.....there's more options for Dish than Direct as far as antennas and Dish items are cheaper. I bought a receiver to leave in rv, but I also take one from home for outside tv. The King Flex supports 2 different receivers at the same time for viewing different channels....cook'n shows verses football. (easier if just stopp'n for night with automatic)

Can you just take the box out of the house without any issues and get manual dish and tripod for it to take with you?

We use the Tailgater from Dish. Works great.

It depends on the box. If you have a VIP211K you can. It will work with a manually aimed 500 dish (two eyes), or tailgater (HD) or the Winegard carryout that I have (no HD). I have a dish and tripod and signal finder (I'm not using) set up for Dishnet, but didn't like wasting time getting it aligned. If you set up and don't move much, its okay, but traveling its a pain.
