Short or long hot water heater element?

I have a Suburban 6 gal HWH. Wasn't heating on electric last time I used it..I had bought what I thought was the right element according to manual. The one I pulled out is about 7" long, had an odd serial number I couldn't track down. It is listed at 120v 1440 watts. The new camco one I purchased was only about 5" long (02142) 120v 1500 watts. I do know suburban makes a 02143 that is about 7" long. My questions is will the shorter one take longer to heat water and should I go with the 2" longer 02143? Thanks.
