Look for a front-rear FADE control / option. It is likely that yours is set to front-only, or some position not friendly with your outdoor speakers. At least, that is a first easy thing to check and a common cure for this symptom.

If your stereo has a screen / menu, the front-rear fade will likely be hiding in the same set of menus as BASS, TREBLE, and BALANCE.

If those functions are knob-based then see if there is a dual-knob with markings like F-R (Front-Rear FADE), likely similar to another marking somewhere for L-R (Left-Right BALANCE.) Possibly, you might do something like push the volume for L-R and pull the volume for F-R.

If you can come up with make / model of the device in question, see if you can google search up a manual / user guide perhaps.

"upon further thought" (need more beers ... )
If there is a separate control head / knob / gadget, there could be (or could have been) an amplifier, or some extra on-off switch somewhere.
