Sw12de suburban water heater

I have a 2011 SWDE Suburban water heater in my fifth wheel and it has a water heater that is both propane and electric. I have put (2) high limit/thermostat switches on the 110v side since I have had it. What is happenning is the thermostat connection on the side that is connected to the high limit switch is getting hot and burning out, not the solid wire piece that is connecting them both together but by the terminal that has the solid wire welded to it by the manufacter on the thermostat. I have checked the amp draw form the element and it is drawing 11.45 amps which is normal for a 110v 1440 watt element. What could the problem?

What is the current rating on the thermostat? Sounds like that is where the problem is.

Understand the voltage, and the temp, but it should also have a current rating. It may be listed as 1000 watts for example, and then your electric element is too large, since you stated you have a 1440 watt element.

As Windrider mentioned the wattage may not be correct for the switch. Normally the wattage is stamped on the side. Have you seen any heat marks or degradation on the female connector?
