SW6P Suburban Water Heater

I am writing to let folks know that there are online sites selling the SW6P water heater with a picture of the new 5118A Suburban. If your going to replace your SW6P it would be advised to go with the new 5118A with the Robert-Shaw control and not get a SW6P with the china control. Make sure you get the red knob control and not the black. These have had issues from day one years ago.

Why would anyone want to mess with having to light the pilot when you get a SW6D for about $20 more?

your right. just postin for folks who maybe dont want to do the mod for DSI or dont know better. we could prolly debate which model would be more trouble free. I seen the robert-shaw go 20 plus years...no OEM DSI board can claim that. So, we can kick that around a little if you wish. This is more about fraudulent advertising and folks getting whats in the picture. I feel the close cost of the DSI is maybe why Suburban put this off for so long. this may very well be the death knell of the pilot model. probably way past due...

I understand the man replacing the 20 year old wh, I would do the same thing and put in the cheapest I could find in his situation. Otherwise, I would go with the DSI unit as very few people keep their rv's over about 5 yrs.
