Tank Heaters

Am camping in cold weather currently in a 2503S Rockwood Mini-Lite.
When I turn on the tank heater switch on the main panel a fan comes on in the main control center( where the fuses are. I assume this is a cooling fan?
Is it normal this fan come on with the tank heaters. My only frame of reference is last December i was in two nights of low 20's and I used the tank heaters but the fan did not run. Any ideas?? Thanks.

When you turn on the heaters, you are putting a fairly major load on the converter. The converter is located below/behind the fuses. When you load up the converter, the fan comes on to cool the electronics. This is normal.

I'd bet the fan came on previously, but you may not have heard/noticed it (If you were in the low 20s, you probably had some sort of heater running, which may have drowned out the fan.)

The fan is probably the converter's fan trying to recharge the depleted battery, due to the tank heaters power drain.

Okay, thanks- should be okay. Just that I am so anal on what could be considered noises or changes etc. Seems like I would have heard the fan noise before.

Yeah, that is funny.
I meant that it comes on when the Converter is trying to recharge the battery.😖

It's one of our "smilies" (see to the right of your test editor or the conveniently attached graphic )

Typically we use it to illustrate "ROTFLMAO"

roflblack

rofl = Rolling On Floor Laughing. I have no clue what/why it has "black" on the end.

When it has a colon ( : ) at the beginning and end, then it shows the emoticon:
