Trailer USB charging ports stopped working

I have a 2018 Rockwood Minilite 2109s. It has a device charging station consisting of a 12 volt cigarette lighter type plug and two USB charging ports for charging computers and cell phones. The radio/dvd player also has a USB charging port that says 5 volts. All three USB charging ports have stopped working in the middle of a camping trip. One day they worked fine, next day, not working. Is there some sort of reset button or transformer that needs to be replaced?

Did you check the fuse panel?
Are the other 12v items working?

Hi bikendan; All other outlets work in 12 volt. Just the USB ports have quit working.

are you plugged into shore power 120VAC or running off your camper battery?

I bet a low voltage condition on your battery is responsible...

I have some usb ports. They only provide about half an amp each and dont charge very well. Most smartphones need 2.2A at least. I bet the resistor burned up. I am pulling mine and replacing with this.

rsdata; USB ports worked fine on 12 volt battery for one night. Next night didn't work on 12 volt, still with full battery charge. Right now I'm back home and on shore power and the USB's still doesn't work.

It's a known issue. I went through three of them in two years. Always the same. Cigarette lighter worked, USB ports stopped.

Call Forest River or your dealer.

When you finally figure out your issue, replace all your ports that put out 2.4A.

The USB port that is integrated into the radio is completly seperate from the panel mounted ports. If All of them have stopped working at the same time, I would suspect the cable that you use to connect to your device has failed. Have you tried a different device and charging cable.

Yep...I was thinking same thing. I have one cable that will not allow over 200mA charge. On the same charge port with a new cable, I get 1200mA.

This is according to an android app that measures current.

Kind of annoying that Apple decided to ignore the USB 2.0 standard of 1.5 amp maximum and ship iPhones and iPads that draw excessive current of 2.1 amp or 2.4 amp.

Everyone else plays by the rules.

Our charging center burned out (just the USB, not the 12V) within a month or so of use on our new unit last summer. Was the only warranty item I had our dealer replace. They've been working fine since.

As like Jack, mine went out too. Screw FR, I called the mfg of the chargers. They said the TT mfg orders and uses cheaper lower rating USB chargers. If you plug in multiple phones or phones that pull more power, the charge burns out. These guys were super nice. They sent me the higher rated (4 amp I think) units, for free. New ones were easy to install and work great.
FYI, I've also replaced 3 led lights because the chips in them would just fall out.

My trailer didn't come with any USB ports so I purchased after market ones from Amazon. Same deal as everyone else. USB's failed, cigarette lighter still works. Think they are just cheap Chinese junk whether they were pre-installed by the dealer or aftermarket. We just use our car chargers in the cigarette lighter socket.

There are better ones out there like the BlueSea ones.

I'll have to look into them. The cheap ones just don't cut it.

I don't understand why people continue to not learn that buying the cheapest junk will bite them down the road.

Where was your review when I was looking to buy one? Most people rated them as decent. Sometimes you can only find out the hard way. Bought what I thought would work, not because it was cheap. By the way, they are the same junk the dealers install in their new units.

That alone should be a reason not to install the same ones!
