Transfer switch Or Inverter/Converter

Was plugged into 50amp. This problem just started this weekend. The batttery I installed is deep cell about 4 months old. All the lights dimm, the AC shuts off and on but just the fan, the refrigerator goes off, outside radio goes off and on. After a short amount of time everything goes back to normal. I do have a 5500 generator hooked to transfer switch but was not running it. Any suggestions would be appreciated

First off, I am going to assume that you have a propane/ac reefer. If that is the case, when the lights dim, that means that your 12 volt was low. That could shut down the reefer and also the low voltage stuff that runs the AC. the fact that the lights dim would indicate low DC voltage. I would look at the converter and the battery systems. Even if the battery was low or totally disconnected, the lights, reefer and AC should be fine being powered off the converter.

Start there and make sure that you have at least 13.2 volts on the DC buss when the shore power is connected. If you have an LED battery condition panel, all lights should be lit when connected to shore power and the converter running.

I just deleted my previous answer and agree with yours.
It is all DC that is having the issues.

This happened to me when my inverter through the automatic transfer switch would not stay engaged. It was a bad clamp screw connection at the ANL fuse. Didn't blow the fuse, just melted the connector. Lights would dim and microwave would struggle. I checked the power into the microwave and it was 110 vac, but would decrease as it ran.
Since I have ANL fuses on both the pos/neg cables from the batts to the inverter, I just replaced the bad ANL fuse connector with a solid cable and let the fuse on the neg leg do its thing. That connection was solid when I installed it, so I guess it worked it's way loose on the road. It gets checked regularly now.

I have 123 volts going to 5er. Have 12.6DC going to battery. Would that be the converter then? The converter charges the battery I am thinking. With the 5er plugged in no lights or anything on inside. I had 12.6 DC volts going to battery. Would a converter do that work for a while then all of a sudden quit working for 1 hr then start working again? This happened several times

Use your battery disconnect to disconnect the battery. All the 12 volt items should still operate. 12 volts supplied by the converter.

Well, I would say that you have 12.6 coming from the battery. That is a pretty low voltage for the converter, which should never go below 13.2 or 13.3. You can try measuring the voltage on the converter when the battery is disconnected, or simply see if the lights work when it is disconnected.

Focus on the converter. If you can get to it, make sure it is getting AC voltage, check any fuses on it and I would disconnect one side of the output and check the output voltage. My bet is that a fuse on the unit is blown, or it is shot.
