Turning on the heat

I am new to camping and bought a forest river (salem) rv camper. It was winterized and I have been cleaning it for the upcoming year. How do I turn the heat on? I have electric hooked up but I die gauged the propane last fall. When I plug the unit up, the heat kicks on but then quickly turns off. If I turn the temp gauge up on the thermostat it does nothing...any ideas?

The furnace only runs on propane. If you have it disengaged, then the furnace can't run.

If you're just cleaning it at home, a small portable electric heater and an extension cord should be all you need. I recommend the cord over plugging into the trailer's electric as they can be pretty power hungry and might overload the circuit while you have other things turned on in the trailer.

Someone else posted while I was writing mine.
You need propane flowing to get the furnace to light.
It may take a couple of try's to get the air out of the lines once you hook the propane up.

After you do hook back up the propane it'll take several several starts to get the air out of the system.

My heat doesn't come on even with propane? What else am I missing? Turned thermostat all the way up, nothing. Stove top burners all work fine. Yet no heat, any ideas?

Lots of thermostats also have a tiny on off toggle
Mine was on top
Nothing works with that off
Otherwise it could be bad thermostat
I had one and took it off and crossed the wires and furnace worked fine

it would if you posted year, make and model of RV or put that info in your signature.
different RV's have different furnaces and thermostats.
