Tv Antenna Obsevation

Even camping in a Jayco KiwiToo for about 11 years, upgraded to a new Rockwood last night...

11 years ago I tried the tv with the roof antenna and received a handful of stations mostly fuzzy and decided at that point if we were at a location that didn't have cable we would just not have tv, no biggy we are camping...

Fast forward to last night, same situation, new rv, no cable campsite, crank up antenna, channel search and OMG.. I get about 20 HD channels clear as day, no snow nothing? And that with my new recommended wingman antenna thing sitting under my bed not yet installed????

What have I missed?? In the last 10 years antenna tv has turned into something that is completely usable????

Agree, TV channels have improved, but the programming has not.

After 1 too many bill increases from Comcast, I disconnected from them, and now receive 20 channels with an $100 outside antennae on a 12" pole. Remarkably, I can pick up channels about 75 miles away with a small mountain in the way......go figure.

I can pick up 23 channels with my camper antennae sitting 20' away, but I have the ability to turn that antennae which I don't have on the home antennae.

The Wingman may pick up additional channels, but beware that the Wingman will concentrate the UHF signal with directional coverage, so you might have to move the antennae around a bit to maximize your signal. I do a channel scan with the antennae in 3 positions, 120° apart, and that seems to work well.

Analog to digital conversion. With analog you could get distant stations but they came in fuzzy. With digital there is no grey(fuzzy) area, you either get the channel or not. Analog couldn't do HD.

Could be that the old Jaycos TV amplifier was shot, and the new onesdoing it's job.

Yes, high definition channels really are awesome. I love watching sports in HD, the detail is unbelievable. The wingman that you haven’t installed yet will really help when you are in fringe areas of television reception.

We will be getting Direct TVs package this next week.. it will be in our home..3 hd/dvr recievers..1 standard reciever..a rv kit (free) includes dish,tripod and cable..and with a referral from my stepson $ 57 a month..also..going to verizon hotspot for internet...my wingman helped pull in more stations for sure..but i have been wanting to say goodbye to comcast anyway !!
