The best way that I have seen is a guy put a round I forgot what you call it around the dial maybe compass which gives him the direction to the degree that it is turned, then use the app where the towers are located. Then dial it in. I use a jack, I look which way everyone's bat wing is turned then I start there with the fat end pointing in that direction. I will then start like 1/8 rotation until I get the best reception I always get enough stations and alot more then most..Works for me..

I have a compass app on my phone and can just hold the phone on the ceiling and it will tell me North. Have another app that shows local station directions. Both are handy.
