TV cable plug not working

I have a brand new Forest River Forester that we took out on her maiden voyage last week and discovered some problems. I'm trying to avoid driving it 3.5 hours back to the dealer, so hopefully I can find some answers to the problems here. One of the problems is with the TV cable hook-up on the outside of the motorhome. I have a brand new cable that I hooked up from the campsite to the motorhome. The reception was very "snowy." This same thing happened at a different campground we stayed at the night we picked it up from the dealer. When I ran the cable from the campground and hooked it up directly to the TV, the reception was perfect. There seems to be a problem somewhere between the TV and the outside plug. I have checked all the connectors that are visible.

Have you seen a wall plate that looks like this one?

If so was the little light on it lit?

If it was turn it off, it is a booster for the over the air stations and must be off for cable.

That was probably it. It should work fine now. That's one of the items your PDI tech. should have covered with you.

booster

Booster is not campatible with most cable signals. Too bad because the rv park cable signal sucks after being split too many times. A booster or amp. would help. For Sat. better to run a seperate cable to the outside.

Outside cable

My fr heritage glen was doing the same, i was able to bring it back to the dealer. They told me the wires were switched on the outside connection for the cable and dish connection. Guess you can check it by plugging into the dish connection if turning the antenna booster off dosent work. Good luck

The amp button and cable correction are located in the back of a storage cabinet in our Flagstaff. Have to be careful of what is stored there as the button can be reset during travel and things moving during travel. Finally bought a storage container with a lip higher than reset button, problem solved. Only have to deal with emptying cabinet when changing from ota to cg cable or satellite. As stated before, amp has to be off, led should be off, to use cig cable which is considerable stronger than ota signal.

My 2011 Georgetown has a different arrangement. The antenna amplifier is between the FR supplied switchbox and the antenna. It makes no difference to have it on or off when using the cable hookup at an RV park. Unfortunately, the output of the switchbox goes to a 4-way splitter and I've been in very few places where there's enough signal on the cable to provide a clean signal to any television after the splitter. It turns out that this is also a problem with the antenna!

My solution was to install an amplifier between the switchbox and the splitter. Boosting the rf signal at this point gives enough signal after the splitter that I have a good signal on all of the televisions in the rig.
