TV died due to propane?

Our Forrester 2501ts is just over 1 year old. Just a few weeks ago the oddest thing started happening. Whenever the furnace would kick on, the TV screen would go black. We'd have to turn it off then on again to get it working. Last night, 1/3 of the screen went liney. Now we can only see 2/3 of the screen. It won't correct. It's not a ratio issue. I tried unplugging it for awhile as well. We have the factory installed Infinity 32 inch TV. Is my TV shot already?

Your TV wouldn't by chance be a 12 volt unit? If you were running off of batteries (intentionally or unintentionaly) the furnace blower is a pretty big load and it may be dropping the 12 volt power to a level that the TV doesn't like.

Just a thought.

Your house battery is not fully charged.
Either from depleting it or a bad cell.

Your furnace is one of the biggest battery draws in your RV. So when it kicks in, it's drawing your weak battery down so much that there's not enough for the tv.

Propane has NOTHING to do with it.

Note: The propane detector is designed to alert on low battery voltage.

Your TV may have issues but it is nothing to do with propane.

your tv is 120 volt. It has nothing to do with propane. Your furnace is propane and uses 120 volts to run the fan. I guessing your batteries are dead if your TV and fan on an inverter or your shore voltage is low. Turn on your A/C and see what happens. My TV would go off while the A/C was starting up until I installed a booster transformer on my shore power. Microwave and A/C didn't play nice either.

You are incorrect.

Furnace and fan are 12v DC, NOT 120v AC.

Now we are getting somewhere. The TV is 12 volt and ALL RV furnaces are 12 volt as well. So......that could be the problem.

Turn on the tv, start the furnace, Have someone inside tell you when the tv stops working and measure the battery voltage ( using a voltmeter not idiot lights) and report back. This was reported previously and it was a low voltage issue when the fan was running.

I've been on shore power for 10 months. I have a heavy duty surge/brown out protector at the post. I will check the batteries. Thanks. (I knew it wasn't actually the propane. That was tongue in cheek)

I would be more inclined to look at your converter, since your on shore power. If you have access check that all wire connections are tight, especially the ground terminals.

Good one. I thought your Tow Vehicle had quit when trying to run propane. we have a few trucks that use propane around here. good luck on the television.

Check fluid level in the battery. If low, then low voltage and converter cant keep up. Since you have been on shore power for 10 months, I bet you haven't thought about the battery. That's where I would start!

X2 Found that out on return trip from visiting daughter. Forgot to turn it off and when I backed up to the house to unload the trailer, heater was on.

When our batteries get low even the added draw from the water pump kicking on will cause the Television to go off.

X2. Definitely a misleading title to this thread. Now somebody to new RV's will see this and it won't be long before the word spreads that propane will cause your television not to work.
