TV sound

How do I get sound to just come from TV not overhead speakers. Kids want to watch a movie and sound through overhead speakers is way to loud even on 1. I used remote for TV
But no sound will come out of it.

Little more info would help. Do you have a stereo system? If so go through the menu on it to turn the system off. Later RJD

Ours is set up to where the DVD player only plays through the overhead speakers and not the TV. And TV will not play through the overhead speakers. I've read where ppl have changed the wires around but I haven't taken the time to do that yet
