Vibration from roof top AC

We got to use our AC unit (Dometic 15K btu) last weekend. When we ran the fan on high the roof started to vibrate the noise was so loud that you could not talk without raising your voice. It appears that the fan is out of balance or the shaft is bent, anyone else run across this problem. The unit is a 2011 Rockwood 2902SS.

Don't have the problem, but you should be under warranty. I would take it in.

Another thing you could look at are the hold down bolts. You should see if they are snug. Take the inside cover off and you will see 4 bolts -one in each corner. They should be snug- not overly tight. May help the problem.

Just installed a second Dometic unit on our coach last weekend, brand new out of the box and the blower motor was not installed correctly allowing the cage to touch the side of the housing. We had to take the cover off, then the cover for the motor to adjust the support for the motor. Once we had that done, sounds and cools great! I bet that support piece has moved around on yours too, it's only held in place with two screws.

I took a look at the fans and they wobble quite a bit, look like the motor shaft is bent, one more thing to deal with . We are leaving for 10 weeks next week......what are the odds that my dealer can fit me in . I have spent the last 6 weeks fixing various items thru the camper, but this takes the cake!

Another thing to check is on the fan itself, make sure a mud dobber didnt build a nest on one of the blades, It happened on my last 5th wheel, sounded like the fan was coming apart and vibrating the entire rig

Went up on the roof last night and took a look at the external fan and there is was, a mud dauber nest! Cleaned it out and the vibration is gone.

BAD1032--Thank you thank you thank you!! We also had a vibrating rumble in our AC. Inside looked fine. Son pulled the cover outside and wow! Full of dauber nests. Cleaned them off, and now it purrs like a kitten. Thanks for the tip!!

dirt dobbers

that's quiet common along the gulf coast. i had also had them build on the inside squirel cadge blower. now that u know u are around them, if u haven't instlled a screen over the heater vents(outside), u should do so. that will be the next problem area and it isn't as easy to remedy.
